A is for Another SEAL Book

A lot has changed since I last did the A-Z Blog. Some four years ago, when I did my first one, I was still shopping my Accidental SEAL out there, looking for a home. I had written three paranormal romances, books I loved, and I was hopeful that if I continued to write, at about book 4 or 5, I would start to get traction.

And that was right.

Today, as I begin this A-Z Blog challenge again, I have a total of 14 books out there. Nine in the SEAL Brotherhood Series, five paranormals. I have been on the New York Times and USA Today lists multiple times, and I'm happy to say I could live off the earnings I make with my books.

This isn't meant to brag. Just to perhaps give hope to those who have the dream of following their dream. This has all happened in less than 5 years. And I didn't begin this journey until I turned 60 years of age.

A writer writes until he/she gets noticed. Very simple plan, really. No gimmicks to it. Just write things people want to read. That's my advice:  Never Give Up.

  1. I would just like to say how much I have enjoyed reading your Seal Brotherhood books. I couldn't put them down. I loved all the characters and, by the end of reading Seal My Home, everyone felt like a friend. I was wondering if you will be continuing the series further. There just seems to be more stories to be told is all. Well, that is what I think anyways. lol Again, it has been a real pleasure reading the books and I can't wait for more. :D

  4. Lesley, You are so welcome. YES! There are more stories to come. Next one is going to be SEAL's Code, releasing 6/30/15, about the grandson of a Navajo Code Talker who rediscovers the value of his heritage. I love all my heroes, and can't wait to fall in love with Danny Begay and his heroine, Luci. Thanks for traveling with me on the journey. There will be books for Brady and Lindsay, Gretchen will get her guy, and others. Also doing a novella with Fredo and Mia.

  5. Thanks, Conchita. We all have challenges, and you certainly have had some of those! I just remember the quote Babe Ruth gave us: You strike out 100% of the hits you never take. Trying (and being challenged, even failing) is the only way we move forward. Expecting the bumps in the road, and still going past them is what it's all about. Look what it takes to be a SEAL. Less than 10% of those that try actually make it. If they can do it, I want to be in that group if I possibly can.

  6. Rachel, my pleasure. Only thing we control is our own mindset. I'm going to be blogging every day, each day with a different letter. This is a stretch for me, but I love doing this every April. Other bloggers on A-Z at the tab at the bottom.

  9. Visiting from A to Z!

What an encouraging post to everyone who has a dream of writing a book. I'm in the group, too.

I loved the Babe Ruth quote you posted: "You strike out 100% of the hits you never take." Although I may have read that somewhere along the way, it feels like a new quote to me, and oh so very true.

Enjoy the blogging challenge this month!

  13. Thanks, Karen. It always is a bumpy road, but then, what worthwhile road isn't? Great thing is that when doing so, I get to meet such wonderful people like you, Karen. Boy that is so inspiring to a writer. We don't always get to have that in life. Thanks for helping me create it.

  14. Wow that is awesome news Sharon. :) I was kinda hoping that you would write about Fredo and Mia. Fredo wormed his way into my heart throughout the series. I was so happy when Mia finally realised what a true gem that bloke was. A Navajo Code Talker as an ancestor? Now that is a history to be proud of and to rediscover. Can't wait for Danny and Luci's adventure. Crikey, I can't wait for them all. lol xx
