This is a do-over. Just a short post to remind you to write every day. I interviewed JR Ward at RWA Nationals in D.C. two years ago, and she told me she had written every day except for three in the last three plus years. I asked her about dinners and family events, vacations. No. Everyday, she told me. And I saw that that's what it takes to be successful.
It's been said that you have to write 1,000,000 words before you start getting good, or before you can start to write. I think I believe that now. But when I was just getting started, I thought I was so brilliant, the world was my oyster!
And I still think the opportunities are there, but I'm more realistic. Talent is overrated. You must write and write and write, get rejected, and write some more. Keep writing. Write every day, and the rest will come. It's about putting it out there.
And don't wrestle with any pigs. You both get dirty, but the pig likes it!

I do write nearly every day. It's easier when you're writing for editors and have deadlines, but if I'm just writing for myself, sometimes I need a bribe or tell myself to work "just for 5 minutes." Getting started is hard; continuing is easier.
