B is for Blue Angels

I've always been fascinated with the Blue Angels. Their death-defying feats have thrilled crowds for decades, flying sometimes within 2' of each other.

My friend, Tina Folsom and I had just returned from a Monterey RWA meeting, and as we drove down 19th Avenue in San Francisco, the Blue Angels zoomed overhead, stopping traffic and all pedestrian activity. A rare thing of beauty.

I rushed to get Tina home to her place, knowing she had a balcony upstairs where we could watch these guys perform. It was a clear blue day without a cloud in the sky. I quickly parked my car, and we raced to the upstairs just as the Angels were swarming overhead. I missed the first fly-by, but thought I caught them on my iPhone the second pass.

I am a writer, and not a photographer. If you can bear the pain, go ahead and playback my memorialization of the beautiful Blue Angels. If you dare.

  5. Hello, Sharon! I've never seen them perform. It sounds really awesome! I'd much rather be a spectator than the pilot!!

  6. We live right near an airport and they have an airshow every year. The Blue Devils haven't been there, but it would be fun if they came! Can't imagine having them streak above the house though..
    Happy A-Z'ing!
